Parable Of The Labourers
In A Grainfield
The Labourers In A Grainfield
And then Jesus spoke a parable. He
said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who had a vast estate. And in
the morning time, he went down to the market place to search for men to gather
in his grain. He found three men, and he agreed to give to each a penny
for his service for the day, and sent them to his field.
Again
he went down to the market place at the third hour of the day and found five
men in waiting, and he said, ‘Go down into my field and serve, and I will pay
you what is right.’ And they went down and served.
He went again. It was the sixth hour of the day, and seven men were waiting at
the stand. He sent them to the field to serve.
And at the eleventh hour he went again. Twelve men stood there in seeming
idleness. He said to them, ‘Why stand you here in idleness all day?’
They said, ‘Because we have no work to do. No man has hired us.’
And then he sent them to his field to serve.
Now, when the evening came, the man said to his steward, ‘Call the labourers
from the field, and pay them for their services.’ And all were paid, and each
received a penny for his hire. Now, when the twelve, who served but from
the eleventh hour, received each one a penny for his hire, the three were sore
aggrieved. They said, ‘These twelve have served but one short hour, and now
they have an equal share with us who have toiled through the scorching hours of
day. Should we not have at least two pennies for our hire?”
“The man replied, ‘My friends, I do no wrong to you. Did we not have a
steadfast agreement when you went to work? Have I not paid you in full?
What is it to you if I should pay these men a smaller or a larger sum? Take
that which is your own and go your way, for I will give unto the twelve what I
will give unto the three, the five, the seven. They did their best and
you could do no more than do your best. The hire of man is based upon
the intent of the heart.”
Explanations
In heaven, a person may receive more talents because
of the type of work which he does, just as a driver enjoys the luxury car with
the landlord, simply because he is a driver, which luxury other servants do not
enjoy.
Yet, those who are more privileged must not look
down on others, because many have earnestly laboured for sake of the Kingdom of
Heaven and for the salvation of the Saints. Above all, all rewards in heaven,
the thrones, crowns and mansions depend on merit.
Note:
1.
Not by grace, but by merit.
2.
Unfortunately, majority fail to keep the laws of God, and
still expect to enter the kingdom of heaven. That is n possible.
3.
For the keeping of the laws is a compulsory requirement
for entrance into the kingdom of heaven.
4.
Hence, Jesus said,
"Not everyone who
says to Me, 'Lord , Lord ,' shall enter the kingdom of
heaven, but he who does the will of My
Father in heaven. Many will say to
Me in that day, 'Lord , Lord , have we not prophesied
in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your
name?' And then I will declare to them,
'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matthew
7:21-23
5.
People do the will
of God by keeping the original Ten Commandments of God, and by observing the
Seven Annual Festivals of God, which festivals Jesus attended.
6. In heaven, a person may receive more talents because of the type of work
which he does, just as a driver enjoys the luxury car with the landlord, simply
because he is a driver, which luxury other servants do not enjoy.
7. Yet, those who are more privileged must not look down on others, because
many have earnestly laboured for sake of the Kingdom
of Heaven and for the salvation of the saints.
Above all, all rewards in heaven, the thrones, crowns and mansions depend
on merit.
Why The Landlord Paid
The Same Price To All The Workers
1. The
same salvation awaits everybody who wants to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The
same Blood of Jesus Christ shall be used to cleanse everybody, whether your sins
are many and great or few and small.
2. All
the children of God have the right to enter and inherit the same Paradise. However,
what a person gains, benefits from the paradise depends on his personal efforts
and interest in the Lord. The spiritual level people attain here on earth is
what they shall be at the same spiritual level in heaven.
3. Everybody
can attain great and exalted positions, just by abiding in the paths of righteousness
and Covenant System Of Worship, and by doing tier
assigned works here on earth, by fulfilling their respective destinies. But it
is only those who merit great and exalted positions that are placed in such positions
in heaven. This means that your mansion, throne, crown are determined by your
merit, and not by grace.
4. As
there is division of labour in heaven and on earth, even so there is necessity
of … a person may be given special powers of the Holy Spirit or benefits, not
because he merits it, but because such powers and benefits are necessary for
him to do his work very well for the good of others. For example, in sharing
money, the angels may give ten million naira to a rich man, because he is
already rich and wealthy; and then give hundred million naira to a poor man,
because the poor man is expected to use the hundred million for the wellbeing
of all his fellow poor and wretched peoples and families living around him.
5. Blessings
are also tools for work. In other words, the person who receives big blessings
has big works to do in the midst of the children of God, and the person without
receives small blessings has small work to do. That is why Jesus Christ said, “For
everyone to whom much is given, much is also excepted.”
Therefore, it is both good and lawful to give more to some people, because of
the greater works which they have to do.
